All About Me

Introducing Me!  My name is Krista Howard and I'm 27 years old.  I am using a device called Vantage Lite by Prentke Romich Company.  I got one since I was 5 years old. I am trying using it more and more.  I am now reaching my dreams!
My Schooling.  I was mainstreaming resource  kindergarten to 8 grade.  When I was in 9th grade the school decided put me in a life skills class. My mentor told the school I don’t need this class.  I didn’t learn anything. In 10th grade I was back in the resource classes  with  my old  2-8th  grade classmates. I did lots better and I learned lots.

My College.  I am currently a student at Estrella Mountain Community College and want to be a teacher's assistant or teacher. I love children and helping them to better themselves. I will be in a classroom helping the special needs students to learn and improve their goals in life.
Mentoring.  I am a mentor for children at their homes and school. I am a big role model for them.  I am  PRC Ambassador, serving at conferences, camps and other places where people want to see successful augmented communicators.
Michael. I am a single mother of little boy name Michael.  I was married but my husband didn't want to be with me any more, so he left when I was 8 months pregnant.  It was hard but I am strong.   My son  is my life.  He likes playing on my device. He interacts with my device sometimes.   He listen to me with my device.
AAC Friends.   I have long friendships  with two ladies who have devices . One of them I knew  since we were 7 years old. Because we live so far away from each other,  our speech therapists started a  group called AAC fox girls. We are good  friends today.
Conferences!  I was at a conferences listening to Caroline and Deanna speak.  I wanted say something.  I though it was a sentence but I said a paragraph.  I want to say everybody please help the communication devices users.  I made Caroline cry!
When I was 20 I went to Closing the Gap  and talked about Out and About.  It was exciting and rewarding.
I went other conference ATIA in Florida.  It is awesome to going be speaking at these conferences  It helped my life.
In 2012 I went to ISAAC International conference.  I gave two speeches about Mentor and Models and about Baby Talk.  I gave a you're welcome speech at the President Reception.  There were 700 people at the reception.  It is amazing conference.   Reaching my goals is more important to me and my son.  I also made many life friends.  I am planning to go to Portugal to help more lives!
